The most important characteristic of handcrafted products is that they are made by hand. Unlike (automated) mass-produced goods from distant factories, with a handcrafted piece you know you are holding something special. Very few of them are made, and you usually know who the makers are.

What’s more, you can expect craftsmanship from handcrafted products. Like us, the makers have a deep understanding of their materials and strive for high standards of quality. Moreover, a craft isn’t learnt in a single day. A master is recognised by their work. In other words: mastery comes with years of experience. Makers of artisanal products often work quite independently. Even after all these years, we too remain a small, close-knit team.

Logically, practising a craft is not for everyone. Creative expertise is essential for the design process, whilst production requires technical skills to use tools properly.

Handcrafted products are produced in relatively small batches and are very often made to measure. Every product passes through our hands several times. Sheet material is coloured, milled, sanded, engraved, assembled and quality-checked. This requires an eye for detail and a good deal of patience. Good work takes time.

Handcrafted products are often more expensive than mass-produced goods, but when you consider their durability, they often last much longer. As a result, on balance, you’re not only helping the environment, but also saving money.
