Precious
Artisanal, custom-made products often carry the label of being expensive. We prefer to call them precious and sustainable. Our prices are higher than those of standard products from large (often foreign) factories, where economies of scale and cheaper materials keep costs low. The preciousness of our products lies within our artisanal production process.
Standard, mass-produced menu-covers are frequently made of plastic or synthetic leather. With a cardboard interior, they are available from around seven euros. These menu-covers have an average lifespan of six to twelve months, sometimes slightly longer. Torn plastic seams or inserts, corners peeling due to moisture, and fading from sunlight on the terrace are commonly heard pain points.
Our menu-covers range in price from seventeen to approximately forty euros each. They are personally custom-made in small batches. We use high-quality materials with known origins. Under normal daily use, our covers last three to five years, but we also have clients who use them for six to ten years. Any intermediate wear and tear usually occurs in the binding system—such as elastic bands losing tension or book screws coming loose. Both are easily replaced, as are the inserts for our menu covers.
So yes, you may certainly call our products precious! But we mean that from the perspective of sustainability and uniqueness. When you consider what you are buying and how long you will enjoy it, purchasing handmade products likely ends up costing you less on balance. And any true entrepreneur worth their salt thinks for the long term.
