Coating
A coating is a thin layer of material applied to a substrate. A coating, also known as a finish, is often intended as a protective layer but also serves a decorative purpose. With the right coating, you can give products the desired appearance.
Types of coating
There are various types of coating with different compositions. Many coatings contain a binder, pigment, solvent and water. After application, a coating cures into a durable layer that protects the substrate against the elements (if you use your product outdoors), but also against scratches caused by frequent use, such as on our menu-covers. A coating also provides texture and, where desired, a gloss finish. We opt for powder coatings, partly for environmental reasons. Wet paints usually contain solvents and are less efficient to use, resulting in more waste. We’d rather avoid that.Coating is a craft
The quality of a coating and the craftsmanship of the coater are key factors in the lifespan of a coated product. No matter how high the quality of a coating, it is the craftsman applying it who determines whether the result meets your expectations. Coating isn’t something you learn in a day; it requires experience. A well-applied coating is even, with no colour variations or imperfections. The curing process also demands precision, time and time again for every order.Hoe kunnen we je helpen?
