Does decover support local initiatives?
At decover, we believe a sustainable society is important. We want to do what’s right for people and the environment. Of course, we have a commercial interest – we want to eat well ourselves – but not at the expense of others or our environment. As a company, we also have a (social) responsibility.
For us, corporate social responsibility starts locally. As well as crafting our products by hand, we also want to collaborate with local partners as much as possible. Wherever possible, we choose local suppliers and are involved, amongst other things, in the organic vegetable garden next to our studio.
We also donate to the Stadsmakerij ('Urban workshop'), where a group of local residents have taken up the fight against the throwaway culture. Workshops and courses are held there where people learn to repair or make their own clothes and other items. This promotes the circular economy and reduces the amount of waste. It also contributes to social inclusion. The place brings people together.
