Using an industrial diamond, we create perfectly crisp engravings on our aluminium composite. We process both our coated materials and our bare metal using an engraving machine in our own workshop. In mechanical diamond engraving, we remove the top layer of the material in a controlled manner. On a coated surface, the engraving then becomes visible in a silver colour. On an uncoated surface, there is no colour difference; instead, the relief of the design creates the contrast and thus the engraving.

Industrial diamond is extremely hard and wear-resistant. The tip is so sharp that we can engrave with great precision. We determine the engraving depth, speed and pressure ourselves in our designs. This makes it possible to engrave either over a full surface or, conversely, in fine lines with small details. We are able to precisely incorporate very subtle nuances into the surface.

The difference between diamond and laser engraving is that, with the industrial diamond, we treat the surface of our material in a way that is not only visible but also perceptible to the touch. When you run your fingers over the material, you can feel the depth of the engraving in the material. A laser engraving, as it were, remains ‘on the surface’ of the material.
